April 1st Agenda

Announcement: You will be able to view your course requests in StudentVue Monday 3/30 through Thursday 4/2 and can submit changes through an online form. The deadline to submit changes will be Thursday 4/2 at 11:59pm. There is a video with directions and information about what your course requests should look like on the course registration page on the Wheeler High School website.

Good Morning All!

Set a timer for 30 minutes. Once the timer is up class is dismissed. Do not panic if you did not finish the agenda in thirty minutes. Remember you are working at your own pace to increase your understanding. I only ask that you do your best : )

This thing we are all a part of is living history and it will be talked about for generations to come. Schools are closed, major events are canceled, and people are quarantined on a global level. During our time apart we will blog and create a primary source that can be shared with students of the future. How is COVID-19 impacting our way of life?

Work Period: Due Thursday

This week we are introducing student blogs using Edublogs. Please follow these steps (takes about 25 mins):

• Visit Edublogs (you must use my link) and create your account. Create a username that is the first 3 letters of your first name combined with your last name (ex: Jamiliah Weathersby would be jamweathersby). Make your password your lunch number.

• Add an appropriate title.

• Go to your dashboard, click appearance, and select a theme.

• Return to your dashboard and click "pages". Edit the sample page and title it "About Me". Tell the community a little about yourself without using any identifying information. First name only. The state is fine, but no city. Don't mention the name of our school. Edublogs is a secure site and only your classmates will see your posts, but we must still practice internet safety.

• Now click "posts". Edit the "Hello World" post. Describe what's happening with the COVID-19 crisis. You can add how you are feeling during the quarantine (min. 4 sentences). This will be the basis of our assignment as we incorporate our Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE).

• There is a bit of a learning curve so be patient! Remember I am here to help!
